The International Competition of Grenaches of the World , initiated by the Interprofessional Council of Roussillon Wines (CIVR) , brings together each year wines made from at least 51% Grenache Noir, Gris or Blanc, from the four corners of the world. These vintages are evaluated blind by a jury of professionals to distinguish the best expressions of this emblematic grape variety.
The aim of this competition is to promote the quality of Grenache-based wines , to support their production and to encourage their consumption on an international scale. It also highlights the unique characteristics of these wines, in order to make them better known to the general public. The medals awarded serve as a benchmark of confidence for consumers , in an increasingly vast and diverse wine world.
