The Cave Terres des Templiers

Our cellar is located in the far south of France, on the border with Spain. The Banyuls & Collioure vineyard is rich in more than 25 centuries of history. With 518ha of vines, it is a true human work, sculpted and maintained by many generations of men and women who work on this thousand-year-old vineyard, an exceptional meeting point between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea.

The Grande Cave and the Underground Cave of Terres des Templiers are true places dedicated to sensory wonder. Enchanted by the scents and the atmosphere that reigns there, travel through time crossing the avenue of century-old vats in a magnificent pagan cathedral.

A land with millennial know-how!

This very steep vineyard, 25km long and 5km wide and the southernmost in France, forms a vast amphitheater facing the sea . The Pyrenees plunging into the Mediterranean Sea are held back by more than 6,000 km of schist stone walls, built and maintained by our winegrowers, true mountain sculptors .

The harvest is exclusively manual , even on the steepest hillsides. No mechanization is possible on the vineyard. These draconian production conditions make this vineyard an exceptional terroir, justifying its specificities.

Always more attentive to its ecological footprint, the Terres des Templiers cellar continues its commitment by going beyond sustainable agriculture in the vinification of certain vintages. By bringing together the best environmental practices with a more natural manufacturing process, a selection of our wines are certified by the “Organic Agriculture” – Ecocert label.

Our history

On the first steep slopes of the Albères range, more than 6,000 kilometers of dry stone walls outline the mountain with astonishing geometric shapes, testimony to 25 centuries of history.

Thanks to immutable roots drawing their strength from the heart of the shale, these vines inherited from the Phoenicians cling to the mountainside in a harsh, dry setting, tormented by the crash of the waves and the blowing of the wind.

Seduced by these wines, the Templars perfected their winemaking and aging in order to satisfy the most prestigious restaurants in Europe.

True architects of our vineyard, the Templars also built low walls, thus fighting against the erosion threatening these “vertigo vines” and shaping a singular and unique terroir.

Winegrower, a profession of passion

Terres des Templiers is a vineyard, a cellar, but above all men and women who for centuries have perpetuated their passion and transmitted strong values from generation to generation.

Growing on pure schist soil, swept by the Tramontane under the burning sun of the south of France, the vines are earned. The steep slopes of the foothills of the Pyrenees have required exclusively manual work in the vineyard for centuries. Each stage of vine maintenance, from the construction of the low walls to the harvest, is carried out by hand and on the backs of men.

High season : From April 1st to November 2nd , 2025. The cellar is open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Weekends and public holidays included)
- Exceptional closure: May 1st.
Guided tours: free and without reservation (in French) every 20 to 30 minutes from 10:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (last departure).

Tasting (French): Free and without reservation, continuously during opening hours.

Guided tours and tastings in foreign languages (English, German, Spanish): €5 per person, reservation required.
Groups (from 12 people): Guided tours and tastings €3/person, by reservation

Low season : From November 3 to December 19, 2025. The cellar is open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
