This weekend of August 17, the 2024 harvest began on the Collioure-Banyuls vintage . We went to meet our Cellar Master, Jauffrey Canier, so that he could share with us his perspective on the harvest of this future 2024 vintage. Thus, we reveal to you in this article what he told us.

"This harvest marks a turning point after two years of challenges imposed by drought. This year, nature has finally offered a generously watered spring, allowing the vegetation to regain its splendor. Our vines, after having been put to the test, were able to restart their natural cycle, thus promising us an abundant and promising harvest.
However, this welcome rainfall also brought its share of challenges. Between two periods of rain, our winegrowers had to be extra vigilant to protect the vines against powdery mildew and downy mildew. Thanks to their expertise, our teams were able to guide our vines through these obstacles.
Until the end of July, the vineyard was splendid, green, and full of life. At the beginning of August, a heatwave temporarily slowed down this beautiful momentum. Fortunately, the temperatures dropped, especially during the nights, which will help to support the maturity of the precious grapes.
In this regard, maturation is slightly behind previous vintages, but nothing is set in stone and patience will be our best ally to harvest the grapes at the ideal time, according to the profile of the wines we wish to produce.
The harvest therefore begins on Friday, August 16 with the picking of the Grenache Noir plots, intended for the production of Collioure rosés with fresh and tangy aromas. Later, these wines will be combined with more "ripe" saignée rosés, thus offering a unique aromatic complexity. As for the Collioure whites, the harvest will begin on Wednesday, August 21.
If Mother Nature grants us two or three more storms between now and the beginning of September, we could see a generous and very well-balanced vintage emerge. It is with hope and confidence that we rely on her to close this cycle of the vine with brilliance."
