Terroir

These Côtes du Roussillon come from the north-east of the Pyrénées-Orientales department, more precisely on the left bank of the Agly valley near the small village of Baixas. This terroir of limestone and schist differs from the terroir of Collioure and Banyuls by its low altitude and its distance from the Mediterranean Sea.

Grape varieties

Escapade in Roussillon Blanc:
Grenache Blanc: 60%
Roussanne: 40%

Roussillon Rosé Getaway:
Grenache Noir: 65%
Syrah: 35%

Escapade in Roussillon Rouge:
Grenache Noir: 40%
Syrah: 40%
Mourvèdre: 20%

Winemaking / Aging

Escapade in Roussillon Blanc:
Total destemming of the harvest before being put into the press. Cold static settling before fermentation at a regulated temperature of 18°C. Storage on fine lees in a carefully topped-up vat until bottling.

Roussillon Rosé Getaway:
Rosé from direct pressing, the destemmed/crushed grapes are quickly put into the press for minimal skin/juice contact. After cold static settling, the juice is fermented at a regulated temperature of 18 to 20 °C. Storage in a perfectly topped-up vat until bottling.

Escapade in Roussillon Rouge:
The 3 grape varieties are vinified traditionally in destemmed/crushed with short macerations to favor the fruit over the tannic structure in the mouth. Aged in stainless steel vats topped up until bottling.

Tasting

Escapade in Roussillon Blanc:
Color: Brilliant, deep golden yellow.
Nose: First nose of green apple, white flowers and ripe banana. When swirled, apricot and lime complete the aromatic palette.
Palate: Round and smooth, balanced by a nice acidity, finish of yellow melon and lemon.

Roussillon Rosé Getaway:
Color: Pale pink with pearly highlights.
Nose: First nose of fresh fruits (strawberry, white peach, nectarine). When swirled, passion fruit and Brazilian guava bring exotic notes.
Palate: Full of finesse and subtlety, refreshing as desired.

Escapade in Roussillon Rouge:
Dress: Deep bright red tending towards violet.
Nose: Very ripe red fruits (strawberry, raspberry). When swirled, the fruit becomes darker (blackberry) with notes of orange juice and star anise.
Palate: Round and smooth at the same time, highlighting the fruits of the nose.

How to appreciate it

Escapade in Roussillon Blanc:
Service: Serve around 10°C.
Pairings: This full-bodied wine will accompany grilled fish and fish in light sauce as well as white meats.

Roussillon Rosé Getaway:
Service: Serve around 10°C.
Pairings: This fine and subtle rosé will accompany avocado guacamole with shrimp, smoked salmon toasts and fresh goat cheese.

Escapade in Roussillon Rouge:
Service: Uncork at the time of serving at around 14°C.
Pairings: This wine for sharing around fruit, will accompany terrines and pâtés en croûte, grilled meats and soft cheeses with bloomy rinds.
